USA | California | Mongolian Gers
Digital Tibetan Altar just posted this photo of a Mongolian ger located in the Anza-Borrego Desert in California. That ger looks pretty authentic to me. Who would have known they have real gers in California? And the terrain has an uncanny resemblance to the country around Aryaval Khiid, just north of Ulaan Baatar. If and when I get back to the USA I am certainly going to visit the Anza-Borrego Desert.

Don -- you missed this snapshot of my home in California's Mojave Desert after a freak snowstorm. This is a real Mongolian ger, now on its third set of covers.
And just to clarify... specifically, this is the Anza-Borrego Foundation's 5th Grade Environmental Education Camp. The A-B Foundation also recently sponsored a field trip to Anza-Borrego's "sister park," which is the Ikh Nature Reserve, in Mongolia. So, there you go... the Mongolian connection deepens.
When you come back from Mongolia, be sure to bring a ger with you!
I would rather be locked in a 4' by 8" cell and forced under gunpoint to watch an endless loop of “Walker Texas Ranger” reruns than return to the USA, but if I am forced to return I will certainly visit the Anza-Borrego Desert.
I can appreciate that. As soon as I can afford a UNICAT, I will be over there to visit the Gobi at length.
